A solution to the problems in the Middle East can only be found through dialogue carried out in good faith and based on the mutual recognition of all parties' rights in international law. A two State solution will only be possible if Israel renounces and reverses its cruel and illegal settlement policy, and abandons all territorial claims to occupied territory. We call on the Liberal Democrats to fight for the rights of the people of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza, occupied in international law, as well as the Palestinian refugees who have been ethnically cleansed by Israel, and for whose sufferings Israel still refuses to accept any legal or moral responsibility. We also challenge the cosy consensus and the moral amnesia which the Israeli lobby seeks to encourage among the political establishment in this country.
